Furby

Furby Price: £55. Recommended Age: 5 years and above.

This new generation of Furby is an updated version of the beloved bilingual creature from the past. It is now much cleverer than its predecessor and has many more features to boast about, including the two big LCD eyes that comprise roughly a third of the body, which significantly enhance the range of emotions that it can express. They can display pure joy, a sullen look of discontent or even show graphics such as rainbows or love hearts.
When you first receive your Furby, it will mostly speak Furbish, but the more you play with it, the more English it will speak. Not only does it respond to your touch when you pet its head or tickle its tummy, or your voice when you speak to it, but also to the music you play to it.
You can also download a free app to help you translate Furbish, as well as virtually feed your Furby and other interactive features. This app is optional though and works with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models with iOS 4.2 or later.
The Furby has no 'off' switch, but if you leave it alone for long enough, it will get tired, start snoring and eventually just fall asleep. You can easily rouse it back with a little bit of interaction.
But bear in mind, each Furby has a mind of its own...
